third official post

Hey guys! Sorry for the rather late post as I was supposed to post on yesterday, Saturday. Well, I was caught up with something and I would share it down here. :)

Yesterday, Saturday 27 August 11, at 1pm, I went down to see my seniors and friends in the Saxophone Section. I had a really good time yesterday with them. We met at the basketball court nearest to Woodlands Primary School, and played a match of basketball. It was 2 versus 2, and it was pretty fun. But sadly, I fell down and got injured as I accidentally tripped over the basketball somehow. ._. Well, luckily, I had only scratched my skin. Actually, last week, I had fell down once. I was like so speechless when I well down yesterday as I nearly scratched my skin on the same spot as last week's fall.

Back to the main topic, after 1 hour of basketball, we went to a shop and bought drinks and ice-cream. While walking to one of my friends' house, I ate the ice-cream I bought and it was delicious. :D When we reached my friend's house, we washed our feet and we went into my friend's room and after that, we got drink and sat down to watch a cartoon. Around 1 hour later, we decided to watch a movie that my friend had brought which was in DVD.

Sadly, I could not finish the movie as it was late and I had to go home. So I waved to the Saxophone Section goodbye and I went home. This meet-up with them was very fun and interesting as it was my first time that I went out with them. Also, this makes us socialise more, and that, will make us closer together, so we can both work hard for our incoming competitions. :D I hope that I could have more such meet-ups or even outings with them.

Well, I shall now end my post. See you! :)

second official post :)

Hi. I am back to blogging again. :) Today's post will be about my very first performance in Riverside Symphonic Band[RSSB].

They very first performance I had was during the National Day Parade[NDP] celebrations in school. It was quite an experience as I did not have many chances to perform in front of crowds. This is actually my second time performing in front of a big crowd, or should I say in front of the whole school.

During the NDP celebrations held in school on 8 August 2011, the Band had to assemble in the music room as early as 6am. We then set up the chairs and our instruments in the music room.

At 6.20am sharp, we did our warm ups and the conductor came to give us our last practice for the performance. At 6.40am sharp, the secondary 2 boys went down to the parade square and they set up the chairs there. The whole band soon went down to the parade square and settled down in our places. While waiting to start, we tuned our instruments.

After some waiting, we get to play the very first song, or actually a march. It is for the Uniform Group[UG] people to march in. After some time, everyone stood up to sing the national anthem and to say the pledge. But for band, we sat down in our places and played the national anthem.

It was a really nice experience to play the national anthem in front of the school as it makes me feel proud of the school and county. :)

After that, when the UG had to march out, the Band also played the same march we played before. After the whole performance, we went back to the music room to have our debrief.

It is a really nice experience to play in front of the whole school as it gives me even more confidence for the next performances I have. Though actually some parts of the performance we did not played our best and more, but overall, I think that the band did well. I hope that RSSB can excel in future performances! :D

Got to go now, byes!

First official post :)

-Sorry, I changed the blog, and I copied the original post and did some edits. So this post is meant to be on the 13 August 2011-

HEY! This is the very first official post. :) So how's everyone now?

Looking at the date and time now, it reminds me of something really unforgettable. Something that happen last Saturday,6 August 2011, around 7pm plus....

Of course! It's the ACSI[Anglo Chinese School, Independent] Festival of Arts Concert! It's the very first concert I went, and it was also the first time I went out with Riverside Symphonic Band[RSSB] informally, and it's the most unforgettable and awesome event. Why? You would know later. ;) So let me list down the whole event for you. :D

At 4.15pm, I mett up with my section seniors and friends to have a tea break, or lunch for some of us, at Causeway Point. I had a really great time eating with them and also chatting with them.

After eating, we went down to Woodlands MRT station to meet up with the rest of the band at around 5pm sharp. It was quite an experience as it was the first time I saw the whole band informally. After a few minutes of waiting, we went up to the MRT platform. When the train came, all of us rushed in so there would be enough space for the whole band. Sadly, some of the seniors could not get on the same train as the rest of the band. Thus, we waited for them at Dover MRT station, which was where our last station was. After everyone reached Dover MRT station, we went to the bus stop, and we took a double-decker bus. Sorry, but I have forgotten which bus was it.

RSSB reached the bus stop and we alighted. We walked a short distance to a traffic light to cross the road, and we reached ACSI.

At 6.30pm sharp, we got our tickets and we waited outside the performance hall.

Finally at 7.15pm sharp, we were allowed to enter the performance hall. It was really very grand for me as it was my first time there. I was curious about how the ACSI Symphonic Band will be like. It was pretty interesting as they were wearing black long-sleeved shirts, black long pants and ties of many colours. It was really very nice.

The performance lasted from 7.15pm sharp to 10.15pm sharp. The introduction of their performance was indeed very unique and nice. I couldn't really remember the order of the songs though. If I am not wrong, their first song is called Stars and Stripes Forever. It was really a nice start for their performance as I think it is a lively song.

The second song they played was called Riverdance. The song had a Suprano Saxophone solo part for this, and it was awesome. Their band even had some tap dancers dancing along to the song. The next song was probably Animation songs medley which consists of Animation songs of different Japan anime or cartoons if I am not wrong. It was pretty nice but I was not a fan of that, so it's not really my favorite.

Afterwards, if I am not wrong, they played the Lion King. I quite liked it as when their band is playing the songs, in the background, they showed slide shows of pictures of the Lion King. After that, they had an intermission and the junior band continued. I couldn't really remember what songs they played, but I remembered that one of the songs had a Flute and Alto Saxophone solo parts. It was so nice.

After that, the whole band joined to play some other song that I can't remember. Then the most awesome part of the concert came. Want to guess? :D Its...
K-POP GRAFFITI! It consists of different Korean Pop music. Actually I'm not fan of K-pop at all, but there's one part when they played "Sorry Sorry" by Super Junior. That part was the most awesome part, cause they all stood up and went from left to right and right to left! Although they could not do the hand actions, but it was so nice! Okay, I didn't really remember if it was left to right first or right to left first. ANYWAY, cool isn't it!

Next they played a few songs, and the very last song they played, was their school song. After that it was like 10.15pm already, so we went back home. We took the same bus back and transferred to MRT.

When I reached my stop, it was around 11pm and I decided to have supper with my seniors and friends as I was hungry. Okay, I was not that hungry but yeah, it's better to join them! So at 11.30pm, I went back home, thinking about the concert.

Actually, the concert was so awesome because of ACSI Band and of course, MR TAN!!! To thank Mr Tan, ASCI Band gave him a big domo plush! I'm so envy of him; but he deserves it anway ^.^ Back to the topic, I really enjoyed the concert as it was my first concert and it's one of the best and awesome concerts I bet! :D

Well, my post is coming to an end sadly. Hopefully I will be blogging sometime next week about Band issues again. BYES!!! :D
